Huitt-Zollars Receives ACEC Texas 2017 Engineering Excellence Gold Medal Award

Huitt-Zollars received the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Texas 2017 Engineering Excellence Gold Medal Award – Transportation for the Love Field Modernization Program (LFMP) at the 2017 Engineering Excellence Awards Gala on Monday, March 27. ACEC Texas recognizes engineering firms and projects that demonstrate the success of meeting the needs of clients while utilizing an exceptional degree of uniqueness, originality, technicality, value to the engineering profession, and complexity.

Huitt-Zollars was selected to develop plans for airside and landside improvements to support the replacement of the existing air carrier terminal facilities at Love Field Airport. We served as the Design Engineer-of-Record for the airside apron and landside civil improvements, and as the Construction Resident Project Representative for the airside apron civil improvements. Two existing pedestrian tunnels were also reconfigured and rehabilitated, and utilities were renovated and expanded.
The new terminal was completed in October 2015 and achieved USGBC LEED Silver certification including credits for civil site elements such as pavement recycling and water quality. Learn more about the LFMP airside and landside improvement projects.
Congratulations to the Huitt-Zollars team and to the Love Field Modernization Program (City of Dallas and Southwest Airlines) for their efforts on this momentous win!
