John Cooper School Performing Arts Center | The Woodlands, Texas
Client: John Cooper School
Huitt-Zollars served as prime firm, lead architect, and design architect for the new 38,000 square foot performing arts center in The Woodlands, Texas. The program includes a 550-seat full proscenium theater; a black box theater; and band, choir, and dance classrooms. The building sits at the terminus of the campus commons and is the largest and tallest building. The building massing is designed to lessen the effect of the blank 90-foot height of the fly loft. The performing arts building completes the campus and as such reflects the disparate existing building palettes while raising the level of the campus architecture.
