Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa Expansion

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa Expansion | Anaheim, California
Client: Walt Disney Imagineering
Concept Design Firm: 4240 Architecture

Collaboration on design and execution was crucial to the success of this two-and-a-half-acre expansion, adding 202 new hotel rooms and 48 two-bedroom vacation villas. The design complements the California Arts & Crafts architectural style of the existing hotel. The rooftop deck accommodates fireworks viewers. A new swimming pool and 300 underground parking spaces completed the expansion. Green initiatives were incorporated which include energy efficient appliances; double pane insulated glazing with higher than required U-value and SHGC performance; recycled rubber acoustic flooring; LED low wattage and compact fluorescent lighting; low flush toilets; and grey water capability for irrigation.
