Extreme Birdwatching

Extreme Birdwatching | Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska
Client: Radical Innovation in Hospitality Design Competition

Utilizing creative and notable interior design and architecture elements, the connection between birding and travel was capitalized as a catalyst for the perfect birding vista. The structure is carved out of the coastal cliff where birds naturally gravitate. The hotel exterior complements the region’s rocky environment and snow‑covered peaks. Climate extremes test the viability of the birding hotel for various environments. Hotel rooms are outfitted with state-of-the-art touchscreen walls to provide instantaneous bird tracking, migration information, and webcam displays stationed at remote viewing sites.
