Mickey Leland Federal Building | Houston, Texas
Client: General Services Administration
The 25-year-old federal building called for a comprehensive modernization and upgrade. The 22-story building was more than 95% occupied and maintained full functionality during the project. Huitt-Zollars provided overall project management and administration to develop the design-build Request for Proposal, assisted with the bidding process, distributed bid documents, organized and led site visits and project presentations to the bidders, created a construction cost estimate and developed a construction schedule. Huitt-Zollars managed interviews with existing tenants, established swing space requirements, and met tenant programming requirements for overall productivity. Energy savings and sustainable design concepts were incorporated into the design.
