TEXRail Mahaffey Maintenance Facility

The TEXRail project is a 27.2-mile commuter rail system that runs between downtown Fort Worth and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and is operated by the Fort Worth Transportation Authority. Huitt-Zollars, as the Project Manager and Engineer-of-Record, provided design and construction support services for the new Mahaffey Maintenance Facility where eight Stadler FLIRT Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) that operate on this line are stored and maintained. The 22-acre site includes a 48,000-square-foot maintenance building, fuel storage tanks, yard track for DMU storage, and an employee parking area. The facility has dedicated bays for train repair and inspection, a covered fueling area, and a drive through vehicle wash bay, as well as offices, a breakroom, restrooms/locker-rooms, a parts warehouse, and dispatch operations.
