The Northwest Service Center consolidated service and maintenance functions for the City’s Equipment & Building Services (EBS), Sanitation and Street Services, and District Four Sanitation operations. The site provides concrete paving for parking a city fleet of 285 city vehicles and 228 employee and visitors. As the Northwest Service Center’s civil, structural, and MEP engineer, Huitt-Zollars was tasked with addressing one of the biggest challenges to sustainable design—energy consumption—even though air conditioning was required for less than a third of the facility’s nearly 56,000 SF of occupied space. Huitt-Zollars provided full LEED Administration services from registration through certification and post occupancy surveys.
