Bay-City Shinagawa

Located in the southern Minato-ku area of Nagoya City, Bay-City Shinagawa is the largest shopping center in the Chubu region with parking spaces for 3,000 vehicles, 120 stores, and a cinema complex housing 12 theaters. Based on a "Wind" motif, the main essential elements of the design are curves. Each floor enjoys a different shaped "fukinuke" style space, an atrium-like vertical passageway that connects the floors of the structure. Fukinuke literally means to “blow through”, and allows natural light to benefit the occupants on every floor of the shopping center.
