Wellton Border Patrol Station

Huitt-Zollars provided full architectural and engineering design from design charrette to final bid documents (including construction drawings, specifications and design analysis). The disciplines included: civil, architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fueling, telecommunications/data, security, and landscaping. The facility was designed to meet LEED Silver certification and the Federal Government mandated energy and water use reduction requirements.

US/Canada Border Land Ports of Entry

As part of the design-build team with a construction firm, Huitt-Zollars prepared full design drawings and specifications for five Land Ports of Entry (LPOE) along the U.S./Canadian border. Huitt-Zollars provided complete design for civil engineering, architecture, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, plumbing, fire protection, communications, data, and security. The LPOE’s act not only as a welcoming entrance for visitors into the country but also as high security technical checkpoint for potential harmful threats to the U.S.

Sandusky Border Patrol Station

The new 61,000-GSF Station building was designed as the first integrated, co-located facility of its kind and serves as a functional and operational template for future stations to emulate. The Office of Border Patrol, Office of Field Operations and Office of Air and Marine are all housed at the new station building which acts as a state-of-the-art hub for information gathering and sharing. Huitt-Zollars provided turnkey architectural, interiors, landscape, civil, structural and MEP design services for all phases of project development and construction/contract administration.

Blythe Border Patrol Station

The Yuma Border Patrol Station was site adapted to a 250-agent station at Blythe, California. The main station building is approximately 42,500 square feet, with an additional support building of approximately 14,500-square-foot which includes specialty vehicle storage, vehicle service and electronics equipment maintenance. The over 20-acre site includes car parking (some covered) for private and government vehicles approximately equal to the agent count at each station.

Hale Boggs Federal Building and Courthouse Repair and Alteration

Huitt-Zollars provided complete architectural and engineering design services for the repair of elements in the 30-year-old building. The replacement of critical but antiquated mechanical and electrical operating systems drove the project, coupled with a desire to dramatically decrease energy consumption. Elevators underwent modification for code and ADA requirements. The fire alarm system was replaced by a new Class A system, which meets ADA and Life Safety Code requirements. Air handling units were replaced with new VAV boxes and ductwork.

CHRISTUS Moran Health Center

The San Jose Clinic, located in Houston’s Midtown District, is the oldest continually operating free health clinic in the United States. The Midtown District is in the process of revitalization and architectural and interior design services were provided to CHRISTUS that support and reflect that revitalization. Note the updated design of the windows in relation to existing architecture. Driven by a desire to meet patients' needs, the building supports the personal component of healthcare.

Marriott Marquis Convention Center Hotel

The Marriott Marquis Houston Convention Center Hotel is a game-changer in Houston’s convention district. Architectural services were provided for the 1.1 million-SF building that includes 1,000 guestrooms and 105,000 SF of meeting space linked by sky bridge to the George R. Brown Convention Center. Envisioned as a meeting destination and an urban resort, the Hotel features an extraordinary 90,000-SF indoor/outdoor amenity level 115 feet above street level.

Santa Monica College Media Center and IT Building

Design services were provided for the renovation of a 10,841-SF portion of the Campus Library and a new 14,060-SF addition for the Media Center, Information Technology, and supporting services. Design considerations incorporated function and adjacencies, departmental identities, entries and circulation, operating hours, data center expansion, daylight and views, campus identity, open space, sustainability, phasing, and schedule effects.

Energy Tower Campus

Complete architectural and interior architectural services for the master plan and design of this significant commerce park that's geared towards the oil and gas industry. The office buildings reflect inspirational office design and feature all aspects of security and technology. The circulation system contains multiple access points for ease of accessibility, maximized visual art exposure, and uninterrupted traffic flow during construction phasing. Buried utility lines maximize tree exposure, green landscaping, and lake views within the park.

Performing Arts Center at Texas State University

Texas State’s new Performing Arts Center houses multiple department and community productions. A 300-seat Music Recital Hall, a 400-seat Proscenium Theatre with an 80’ high fly tower, and an operable orchestra pit contribute to the 43,700-SF venue. Supporting ongoing sustainability goals, the design for LEED Silver-NC certification also aligns with campus master plan guidelines.
