Denton A. Cooley Building - Texas Heart Institute

Architecture and interior design services were provided to support the state-of-the-art 327,000 square-foot medical facility that also serves as a teaching hospital and Center of Excellence. Programmatic needs required a unique combination of directly aligned functions: an auditorium, a museum, surgical suites, surgical viewing domes, critical care units, executive offices, and research laboratories. The 10-story facility includes a learning resource center with computer lab, a research library, classrooms, a 325-seat auditorium (expandable to 500 seats), and a teaching museum.

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic

Master planning, architectural, and interior design services were provided for the 260,000 square-foot main campus of the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, a 13-acre site located near Houston’s Texas Medical Center. The innovative medical campus was designed to resemble a ‘medical mall’ in order to encourage patients to access a variety of health care services in a pedestrian-friendly environment. Full diagnostic services, administrative offices, senior and pediatric centers, an ambulatory surgical unit, medical specialties, and clinics are available.

Memorial Springs Medical

The project consisted of a three-story, 58,000 square-foot medical office building. The initial phase included the core and shell of the building, covered patient drop-off, which is a prominent architectural feature, covered physician parking, and site improvements. The core and shell package included the finish out of the two-story entry lobby, which has become an active building amenity and gathering space. The first phase also included the finish-out of elevator lobbies, and building common restrooms.  

San Jacinto College, North Campus - Spencer Building

Huitt-Zollars provided architecture services to the newly renovated, 40,000-square-foot Spencer Building, located on the San Jacinto College North Campus. Design Elements include  addition to the front of the building to house the Student Services Center, totaling $6.9 million.  The service center now includes an open computer lab, gathering areas, enrollment services, testing center, financial aid, and a President and Vice President Suite. Huitt-Zollars also improved air quality to reduce operational costs. 

San Jacinto College - Center for Industrial Technology

San Jacinto College is developing a curriculum where academics, innovative technology, and private industry join to fill a missing link in advanced vocational training. The new Center for Industrial Technology, sited at the front of campus along the main street, highlights the combination of academia, new technologies, and the workplace.  This project embraces the technology with careful attention to the scale of the existing campus. The building has a large footprint that requires heavy service/ infrastructure and demands flexibility as future workforce needs of the community shift.

Rio Rancho Public Schools District

Huitt-Zollars provided the design and construction phase services for the new RRPS District’s new Training Center and Board Room Complex. The 17,300 SF additions will house three state of the art training rooms and support space for teacher and staff training in mock classroom settings. The complex also includes office suites for the Directors of Curriculum for Elementary and Secondary Education. A new 150 seat Board Room is included in the design.

John Cooper School

This commission has included the gut and conversion of the old theater building into a first floor library; and second floor suite of classrooms for the upper middle school on the John Cooper School campus. Other commissions on the campus include the gut and conversion of the previous theater building into a first floor library; and second floor suite of classrooms for the upper middle school; and the addition of 4,704 SF Pre-K wing to the lower school building (includes teacher workroom and lower school choir room), renovation of 800 SF development office and 5,000 SF mai

Woodlawn Academy

This project included 57,000 square feet of renovation of the existing Woodlawn Elementary School to the Woodlawn Academy by adding capacity for 7th and 8th grades. It also included complete demolition and replacement of existing cafetorium and kitchen. Project details include: a 22,000-square-foot addition, 90,000-square-foot renovation, accommodations for Pre-K through Eighth grade students, expansion of science and art labs, cafetorium, and band and music hall.
