Moody Gardens Aquarium

Complementing the existing pyramids of Moody Gardens, the two-million-gallon Aquarium enhances the complex in architectural form and interior design. A sculptural wave wall invites visitors to the aquarium entrance. The Aquarium experience is composed of geometric forms with honest expressions of circulation, direction, and exhibition. The exterior is composed of blue glass to reinforce the aquatic theme while differentiating the Aquarium from the existing pyramids.

LEGOLAND Florida

Built on the former site of historic Cypress Gardens, Florida’s first theme park, the team melded the Owner’s vision of the LEGOLAND brand with the valuable assets of the site’s history. The design team scrutinized the viability of existing structures and every tree on the 150‑acre site. Throughout the design, the park’s majestic and historic canopy was protected. Over 80 percent of the existing canopy was preserved in place, and 20 large specimen trees were relocated by crane to strategic locations within the property.

Disneyland Hotel

This project consisted of rehabilitating the existing over 3,000-SF Presidential Suite, re-theming the lobbies of the three towers that make up the hotel, and re-theming three existing buildings within the central courtyard. All of the existing finishes, furnishings, and fixtures within the Presidential Suite were removed and replaced with new.

Metronational Office Building Projects

Air Liquide’s new American corporate headquarters facility joins three other office building completed for MetroNational in Houston’s burgeoning Energy Corridor.  Houston is zone headquarters for Air Liquide’s U.S and American operations and one of three global hubs for Air Liquide Group.  The building connects to a network of skywalks providing access to memorial City Mall and other neighboring Amenities within Memorial City. The Project is LEED Silver.

Energy Tower Campus

Complete architectural and interior architectural services for the master plan and design of this significant commerce park that's geared towards the oil and gas industry. The office buildings reflect inspirational office design and feature all aspects of security and technology. The circulation system contains multiple access points for ease of accessibility, maximized visual art exposure, and uninterrupted traffic flow during construction phasing. Buried utility lines maximize tree exposure, green landscaping, and lake views within the park.

Oil and Gas Office Space

The client, an independent oil and gas company, expanded its business into West Texas. Environmental elements were critical design factors for a new energy efficient facility. Prefinished architectural concrete and aluminum wall panels shift thermal heat gain and create a barrier resistant to the local temperature variations and windblown abrasives. Thermal "low e" insulated/tinted glazing was utilized with window blinds and horizontal solar canopies. A large roof eyebrow protects the building from harsh daytime sun while simultaneously reducing heat gain.

Water Treatment Plant Administration Building

Huitt-Zollars provided civil, architectural, interior, and landscaping design and survey services to CDM Smith for the City of Sugar Land’s largest capital improvement project ever completed by the City. The $69 million surface water treatment plant is at the intersection of Voss and Burney Roads adjacent to Gannoway Lake. The main plant size is 41 acres. Located on the site are the following buildings and structures: Administration/Membrane Building, Chemical Building, Sludge Building, Floc/Sed structure, GAC structure, Main Electrical Distribution Building and a Maintenance Building.

Harris County Juvenile Justice Center

Architectural services were provided for the renovation of the Harris County Criminal Courts Building into a Juvenile Justice Center. The approximately 337,000 SF facility includes the renovation of adult trustee beds to 215 juvenile beds. The facility is used by the Juvenile Probation Department, Juvenile Detention, Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1 Constable, and Juvenile District Courts.

Harris County Jail

Programming, space planning, and complete architectural and interior design services were provided for the conversion of a of a 63-year-old warehouse building from a 350,000-SF cold storage warehouse into a 620,000-SF jail housing 4,000 inmates with eight stories above grade plus basement. This was the highest number of inmates housed in a single facility in the U.S. at the time.
