North White Chapel Boulevard Widening

The North White Chapel Boulevard Widening Project was initially approved in 2008 as part of the Southlake 2030 Master Mobility Plan to improve safety and mobility and is the largest roadway reconstruction project that the City has ever undertaken. Huitt-Zollars was the prime engineering design consultant responsible for the final design plans and specifications for the reconstruction of 4,000 LF of North White Chapel Boulevard from Emerald Boulevard to south of Highland Street. Construction for the project was completed in mid-2022 with a construction cost of $14 million.

Central and Unser Transit Center Expansion

In anticipation of Albuquerque’s Bus Rapid Transit system rollout, Huitt-Zollars worked with ABQ Ride to upgrade various components of the transit infrastructure. Located adjacent to the City’s new Central and Unser Library, the existing facility was expanded to provide dedicated platforms for the new bus fleet that facilitates rapid passenger embarkation/disembarkation movements. Additional conventional bus berths were provided to address peak-time congestion and to maintain adequate headway for the buses.

Grapevine Main

The Grapevine Main project is a P3 development project with the City of Grapevine that features offices, meeting, and gathering spaces integrated with a boutique hotel, parking garage, and the new TEXRail Main Street commuter rail station and reconstructed vintage railroad tracks and platform. The City owns and operates the depot portion of the building and leases portions of the garage for hotel and retail use. Huitt-Zollars, part of a  multi-disciplined design team led by Architexas, performed civil engineering and survey services.

Walsh Development

Walsh is a 7,200-acre, mixed-use master planned community that spans Tarrant and Parker counties within the city of Fort Worth, Texas. The first phase of the community, Quail Valley, is 1,700 acres and will consist of nearly 3,000 single-family residential lots, including a large amenity complex and three elementary schools. The development is expected to eventually be home to nearly 50,000 residents. As the Development Engineer, Huitt-Zollars was responsible for all aspects of engineering to make Quail Valley a reality.

8th Avenue Mixed-Use Development

Huitt-Zollars completed the 8th Avenue Mixed-Use Development in Fort Worth, Texas. Huitt-Zollars provided architectural, civil, landscape, mechanical, and electrical services to design the redevelopment of multiple contiguous sites as multi-use area. This mixed-use office and retail building provides a striking presence along 8th avenue, tying the medical district into the Magnolia Street area of the Near Southside.

Disney Village Marketplace

A 55-acre waterfront shopping, dining, and entertainment village has been centrally located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida since 1975. Through the years, numerous aesthetic enhancements have taken place as well as structural and systems improvements. Huitt-Zollars addressed aesthetic/architectural design issues regarding the pedestrian common areas, hardscapes, storefronts, decorative landscape, environmental graphics, site, transportation, parking areas, new restaurant building, and new service building.

Bluegreen Club 36 Phase 2

Huitt-Zollars provided design of the second phase of Club 36, a Bluegreen Vacations timeshare project near McCarran Airport in Las Vegas, NV. This project consisted of expanding the current timeshare project by 235 keys. Huitt-Zollars provided a design which integrated all of their operational concerns between the two phases of the project. This was done on a very tight and highly regulated site in a relatively short amount time.

Westlake Elementary School - Safe Routes

Huitt-Zollars designed safety improvements around Westlake Elementary School as a part of the State-funded Safe Routes to School program for the City of Thousand Oaks. Improvements included a street widening, a pedestrian path, and a traffic signal modification. Huitt-Zollars satisfied the City's aggressive schedule and finished on-time and under-budget to meet the funding requirements. Topographic surveys, record and right-of-way research, property line and utility mapping, and complete construction documents (plans, specifications, and estimates) were provided.
