BEQ Area Utilities and Site Improvements

Huitt-Zollars, as a subcontractor to Pacific Program Design Management Services, provided site civil engineering design services for the preparation of a Design/Build RFP for utilities and site infrastructure for the Marine BEQ Complex at the U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) in Finegayan, Guam. Huitt-Zollars was responsible for site layout, grading, and drainage design for the over 200-acre site, and provided horizontal and vertical controls and design coordination for the other site utilities.

Sea-Tac International Airport Expressway Widening and LRT Extension

Huitt-Zollars served as Design Manager and Lead Designer for a program to improve congested freeway access to the airport, and extend the LRT transit system to Sea-Tac International Airport. Services include project management, environmental assessment and WSDOT/FHWA clearance, agency coordination, and construction administration. Huitt-Zollars was also responsible for utility coordination and design, Intelligent Transportation System improvements, freeway structures, environmental mitigation compliance, SUE services, traffic analysis and simulation, and landscape design.

Rancho Santa Margarita

Huitt-Zollars' noteworthy land development history created this lead civil engineering consultant project opportunity. Huitt-Zollars provided extensive infrastructure work for this 5,000-acre community. For example, the widening of two parkways required bridge improvements, survey, planning, and utility improvements. This multiphase project blended residential, commercial, industrial, and recreational milieus.

Oxnard Village

Oxnard Village contains an approximately 62-acre redevelopment located on the westerly entrance to the City of Oxnard. The original site was under-utilized and outdated. The new development will include 1,500 residential units, including wrap-style apartments, garden style apartments, courtyard townhomes, and row house townhomes. The project also features a “main street” retail district, local transit center, regional multi-use trail, parks, and numerous green and recreational spaces. Huitt-Zollars served as Civil Engineer for the master developer and subsequent merchant builders.

Maintenance of Federally Assisted Channels

Huitt-Zollars is providing engineering and construction phase services for the Maintenance of Federally Assisted Channels. These flood control, navigational, and coastal protection facilities were originally constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Galveston District. Annually, as well as after significant rainfall events, Huitt-Zollars conducts an in-depth condition assessment inspection.

Weir SPM R&D Facility

Weir SPM manufactures reciprocating plunger pumps used in hydraulic fracturing for the oil and gas industry, along with other essential ancillary upstream and downstream equipment. The Research and Development (R&D) facility tests prototype frac pumps at operating conditions ranging from real-life to extreme such as high fluid pressures, high temperatures, and with various additives and contaminants. Huitt-Zollars provided architectural and engineering services to create the Weir SPM R&D Facility.

Vought Aircraft Manufacturing

Huitt-Zollars provided a variety of structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering services to support the client’s manufacturing capability. Design services incorporated HVAC solutions for humidifier operation, specifically addressing the challenges related to the location and identification of steam condensation. Huitt-Zollars executed plumbing and piping revisions to meet code compliance, and relocated existing equipment within the new 50,000-SF manufacturing facility. The project scope required the removal of all utility sources from the facility.

FedEx Southwest Distribution Hub

Huitt-Zollars provided master planning, all civil, structural, and MEP engineering design, construction drawings and specifications along with land surveying services for FedEx’s 168-acre Southwest Distribution Hub. The site contains multiple buildings that comprise more than one million SF. Civil/site services included aircraft, truck and employee parking facilities; site grading; utilities; storm drainage; NPDES Pollution Prevention Plan preparation and permitting; circulation and staging accommodations; plus gas line, domestic water and fire water distribution lines.

Target T-600 Import Warehouse

Located in the South Sound area of Washington State, the two-million square foot T-600 Import Warehouse serves Target’s Regional Distribution Centers along the I-90 corridor from Washington State to the East Coast. On this design-build project, Huitt-Zollars provided site selection analysis, due diligence services, preliminary and final entitlement, permitting, topographic and construction survey, and site civil engineering for on-site and off-site infrastructure.
