Tapo Canyon 2D Hydraulic Study

Huitt-Zollars is developing a 2D hydraulic study of the Tapo Canyon Watershed in Ventura County California. Within the watershed, the Tapo Canyon Channel capacity can be overwhelmed and overtop floodwaters into adjacent streets of the City of Simi Valley. A rain-on-grid 2D hydraulic model that assesses influential parameters such as antecedent upper soil moisture, was used to assess the City’s storm drain system function. The results of the calibrated model are intended to inform the City on potential revisions to the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) and inform the City of storm drain deficiencies.
