Huitt-Zollars Welcomes Veda Montalbano, P.E. as a Vice President and Senior Project Manager in Austin Office

Huitt-Zollars is excited to announce the addition of Veda Montalbano, P.E., to our transportation team as a Vice President and Senior Project Manager in our Austin office. In this role, Veda will oversee highway and transit projects in Central Texas and support business development initiatives in the transportation markets. She brings 37 years of experience in planning, design, and program management of transportation facilities, including highways, toll roads, high-speed rails, airports (landside), and rural and urban roads.

Veda’s achievements include the I-10 (Katy Freeway) GEC Project, where she served as a Section Manager. This project involved the complete reconstruction of the I-10 corridor, from east of I-610 to west of SH 99 (Grand Parkway), including the I-10/I-610 interchange. Another notable project is the I-45 Schematic Project, from Nasa Rd 1 to FM 1764, where she served as Project Manager and was responsible for schematic preparation, environmental documents, and public involvement. Veda also served as Project Manager for the TxDOT Houston Elysian Viaduct PS&E project which involved PS&E preparation and coordination with TxDOT, COH, CPE (Electrical Substation), HCTRA, and numerous consultants, agencies, and utility entities. The project included one mile of reconstruction of the Elysian Viaduct facility including two bridge structures, one over Buffalo Bayou, and designing a bike path along the bayou, addressing several environmental issues and complex design considerations.

In addition to her project leadership, Veda excels in bringing value to her customers through stakeholder coordination, design expertise, technical due diligence, and knowledge of the NEPA process. She is actively involved in professional associations, having previously served as Houston Branch Director, Hospitality Chair, and Honors Committee Chair for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Houston Branch. Veda is also a member of ACEC Texas.

Veda earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. She has also earned several TxDOT pre-certifications.
