Huitt-Zollars was commissioned by the City of Baytown to renovate and repurpose a former automobile dealership on a ten acre tract into new Municipal Service center consisting of administrative offices, shops, maintenance bays and fueling facilities. The design included the adaptive use of existing buildings. Site work included a complete new master plan with new circulation systems, aprons, parking space for large and small vehicles and storage. Parking for 114 employees was provided offsite under and adjacent to an elevated freeway. The fueling facility has above ground storage tanks for gasoline and diesel fuels with provisions for capturing spills. Provisions have been made for fueling with CNG in the future. All work areas, repair areas and other potential spill areas also have provisions for capturing spills, run offs and washdowns.
