As one of the first high-tech transportation and emergency management centers in the United States, this three-level, 52,000-SF facility handles all traffic and emergency management control within metropolitan Houston. The building facade was designed to withstand hurricane force winds; the mechanical system design allows the facility to operate independently during a power blackout or emergency conditions.
Huitt-Zollars served as the Project Manager for the City of Brenham’s new 25,000-square-foot, $6.6 million Police Department Building. This two-story facility houses the City’s Police Department and Jail. Huitt-Zollars assisted the City in the procurement of the Design Architect and a Construction Manager at Risk. Although initially a CMAR project, the City chose to fully complete the design and publicly bid the project. Huitt-Zollars supported the City with technical expertise during the design development, preparation of construction documents and the construction phases of the project.<
Design services were provided for a police complex intended to meet the long term projected growth needs of the City. This project was delivered via the city’s first design/build process. The phased 110,000-SF project includes environmentally responsive design solutions that minimized adverse effects on the exterior environment; enhanced the quality of the indoor environment; and minimized consumption of energy, water, construction materials, and other resources. There were extensive security requirements for the project.
