SH 190 and President George Bush Turnpike, Segment XXV

Huitt-Zollars designed a PS&E package for the construction of a new location six-lane freeway approximately two miles in length. Design plans included storm drainage, paving plan and profiles, culverts, bridges, four exit ramps, ramp toll plazas, and a detention pond grading plan. This project included seven bridges; two stream crossings; two structures adjacent and over the river east levee embankment; two ramp structures; and one elevated parkway structure. The bridges are located in a horizontal curve and include superelevation transitions. An important feature of Huitt-Zollars’ work was extensive design coordination and use of cost-saving wall standards specifically developed for this and adjacent sections.
