Rehabilitation of Sanitary Sewer

City of Mesquite experienced some pipeline collapse and pipeline/manhole deterioration along portion of the North Mesquite Creek trunk mains due to hydrogen sulfide. The City had made some Cure-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP) emergency repairs through the BuyBoard program but it was not project specific or cost effective. The City contracted Huitt-Zollars to provide consulting services where we researched various CIPP manufacturers and installers as to design, specifications, products, curing methods, experience and references and prepared a generic specification that would allow for competitive bids. Huitt-Zollars provided plans, specifications and contract documents for the 7,700-linear-foot 30-inch Large Diameter RCP Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation by CIPP for the City of Mesquite. We used available City information such as existing as-built plans and GIS data, thereby eliminated field surveying and thus reduced engineering design cost. Through the design and the competitive bidding process, the City was able to save approximately $430,000 had the improvements been purchased through the BuyBoard program.
