Victory at Verrado

Victory, located in Buckeye, Arizona, lies at the base of the White Tanks Mountains. It is the Active Adult component of the Verrado Master Planned Community which encompasses an area of approximately 1,200 acres and is comprised of a 30,000-square-foot Community Center, 18-hole golf course, and residential development that ranges from high to low density. Victory is planned around the “active” adult, specifically an extensive path/trail system. This is in addition to the golf course, numerous sport courts, and mountain hiking trails.

Eastmark Master Planned Community

Named as one of the “Best Places to Live in Arizona” by Arizona Foothills Magazine, DMB along with Huitt-Zollars and its partners created a City within a City. Situated on 3,200 acres in Mesa, the Eastmark Master Planned Community is on the way to becoming one of the most thoughtfully planned, innovative communities in the country. Civic areas such as parks, schools, and businesses are being weaved into the fabric of the community, uniting its residents and visitors. The Eastmark project included 4.5 miles of infrastructure for close to 750 lots and a 10-acre park in the first phase.

San Tan West Area Drainage Masterplan

The San Tan West ADMP covers a watershed area in excess of 45.8 square miles. The watershed's character varied between the undeveloped steep mountainous areas in the upper reaches and sparsely and densely developed areas within the lower regions. This ADMP included a complex FLO-2D model creation in areas where man-made disturbances have introduced channel systems, drainage structures, and retention systems. The large area included multiple municipalities where stakeholder and public involvement were critical for the project's success. 

Bell94 Sports Complex

Planning, design, and construction administration services were provided for a six-field sports complex at 94th St. and Bell Rd. The complex includes 6 lighted professional quality sand-based fields; 600 space parking lot; restroom, office, and maintenance building facilities, shaded plaza, multi-use path, walkways, box culvert wash crossings, roadway extension, new turn lanes, and landscaping. Landscaping included over 200 salvaged trees and cacti.

Bell Road Paving

Huitt-Zollars initiated a field survey to update survey information developed by others and to generate required mapping for design of this two-mile section of Bell Road from 45th Street to 64th Street. The project scope included widening the roadway from four lanes to six lanes with curb, gutter, and sidewalk. Upgrades included field survey; drainage design and drainage structure design for 18-inch to 54-inch storm drain lines; landscaping and design of a raised, landscaped median and bus bays; relocation of a water main; and intersection plans with associated traffic signals.

Phoenix Sky Harbor West Taxiway C Reconstruction

Huitt-Zollars provided engineering design services for the reconstruction of 4,100-linear-foot of taxiway and associated improvements. Three 150-linear-foot-wide connector taxiways provide increased width to serve the new larger aircraft at the site. Approximately 88,000 SY of existing pavement was replaced with a total pavement thickness of 52 inches. Work also included the construction of two asphalt concrete aircraft parking aprons, totaling approximately 40,000 SY.
