Bush Intercontinental Airport Automated People Mover System

Huitt-Zollars provided structural engineering design and construction phase services for the expansion of the Automated People Mover (APM) Elevated Guideway System at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. This project was part of the International Services Expansion Program under the direction of the Houston Airport System. The design involved approximately 3,000 linear feet of one elevated guideway, and an APM station.

Phoenix Sky Harbor West Taxiway C Reconstruction

Huitt-Zollars provided engineering design services for the reconstruction of 4,100-linear-foot of taxiway and associated improvements. Three 150-linear-foot-wide connector taxiways provide increased width to serve the new larger aircraft at the site. Approximately 88,000 SY of existing pavement was replaced with a total pavement thickness of 52 inches. Work also included the construction of two asphalt concrete aircraft parking aprons, totaling approximately 40,000 SY.

Love Field Modernization Program - Airside Apron Improvements

Huitt-Zollars provided comprehensive engineering and construction management services for airside civil improvements, as part of the Love Field Modernization Program to develop a new 20-gate terminal complex. The airside scope of work included 323,000-SY of new pavement around the new terminal, taxiway improvements, apron and taxiway lighting, a new hydrant fuel system, new fuel lines for fuel system capacity expansion, remain overnight aircraft parking, and major drainage system improvements to mitigate flood hazards.

Dallas VA Medical Center Expansion

Huitt-Zollars provided design services for the 606,340-square-foot expansion and 486,290-square-foot renovation. Results of a Huitt-Zollars study were incorporated into the design of a new Central Energy Plant. The project incorporated a campus wide Energy Management System. The electrical design included 480v and 15 KV distribution systems. A 600 KW emergency generator unit powers essential plant loads during commercial utility outages.
