Huitt-Zollars is pleased to announce Kirby Chadwell, RA, AIA, has joined the firm as a Vice President in our institutional practice. Based in the Huitt-Zollars Dallas office, Kirby will focus on leading and directing the firm’s growing architectural practice throughout North Texas. A seasoned leader and architect with over 40 years of experience, Kirby is well-versed in project management, business development, client relations, and project team leadership.
Kirby’s broad project portfolio includes large-scale higher education, commercial, mixed-use, retail, hotel, resorts, casinos, and condominium projects totaling more than 10 million square feet and over $2 billion in construction costs. As Director of Facilities Planning and Development for an accredited community college district, Kirby was responsible for managing renovation and new construction projects across 5 major campuses and other satellite locations. Significant projects include new campus buildings for healthcare and nursing academic programs at Tarrant County College Trinity River East Campus in Fort Worth, TX (120,000 SF, $90M); new buildings for the Energy Technology Center at Tarrant County College South Campus (60,000 SF, $27M); and the MGM Grand Resort and Casino at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, CT (2.5M SF, $500M). His decade of owner-rep experience coupled with 30 years of consultancy work for a top-ranked design firm brings a unique perspective to this role.
Kirby earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Texas Tech University. He is a registered architect in the state of Texas and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
