Airman and Family Readiness Center (AFRC)

The Airman and Family Readiness Center (AFRC) at Cannon Air Force Base is a service organization for all Air Force members and families. Its purpose is to be the focal point for family matters such as support readiness and retention, strengthening base policies and programs, counseling, and education and skills programs, and a 1,000-square-foot loan locker designed to provide the basic essentials for service members and their families.

Santa Fe Trails Operations and Maintenance Complex Upgrades

Huitt-Zollars provided the design and construction phase services for the renovations and additions to the Santa Fe Trails Maintenance Complex. The master plan identified three phases of project development. The first phase was the renovation and addition to the Administration and Operations building, and the construction of a new bus wash facility to incorporate water reclamation. The second phase was the addition and renovation of the Maintenance Building. The third phase is upgrades to the fueling and storage canopies.

Encantado Channel and Storm Drain

This project utilized hydrology developed in the Enchanted Hills Master Drainage Plan in the design of a 2-mile-long concrete drainage channel with several road crossings and one mile of storm drain. The design included an alignment study, hydraulic calculations (HEC-RAS), and four separate detention ponds varying from 20 ac-ft to 70 ac-ft. The concrete channel capacity is in excess of 1,300 CFS. The storm drain was and ranged in size from 36-inch to 90-inch.

Enchanted Hills

Huitt-Zollars served as the primary consultant engineer providing survey and civil engineering services for this 2,000-acre planned community consisting of residential, mixed use property. The design included infrastructure plans for each of the 14 phases of development including grading, roadway, drainage, and utility improvements. The master plan included preparation and submittal of a FEMA Letter of Map Revision package; this resulted in the complete redesign of the drainage infrastructure as dictated by the local flood authority.

Cabezon Communities

Huitt-Zollars provided design, survey, and construction management services for the developer of the Cabezon community as well as individual builders. This 900-acre planned community offers amenities that provide an exceptional living experience. In addition to providing the infrastructure design to support the project, Huitt-Zollars removed approximately one mile of floodplain to open areas to development. The floodplain was routed to a new lined channel around the property and remapped with FEMA.

Tierra de Corrales

This single-family development in the northwest part of the Village of Corrales represented the last remaining undeveloped section of land within the Village. The 127-acre property was redeveloped into 101 single-family lots, each lot a minimum of one-acre in size to conform to the Village ordinances and the overall rural feel. The western portion of the property was zoned commercial to provide a new revenue source for the Village at its northernmost border with Rio Rancho. The lot layout included meandering roadways to minimize speeding and emphasize the rural feel of the property.

Diamond Ridge Subdivision

The Diamond Ridge subdivision consists of 136 lots on more than 60 acres. The lots range in size from one-half acre to adjacent estate lots with an 8,000-SF minimum. Huitt-Zollars provided zone change consulting, design survey, preliminary plat, final plat, construction staking, and construction management.

Zocalo Condominiums

Huitt-Zollars provided grading, drainage, utilities and construction management for Zocalo Condominiums, a 46-unit master planned community in northern Santa Fe. The site needed extensive infrastructure work and earth work to make the plot suitable for construction. The first two phases of the project replicated the feel of a small Mexican village, with brightly colored stucco houses on narrow streets. The third phase incorporated wood-framed lofts rather than condos.

Cottonwood Apartments

Huitt-Zollars provided survey and civil engineering services for a site plan layout/configuration of 420 multi-family dwelling units that are divided into five building clusters and located on 16 acres. The site was developed per R-3 zone regulations and is located within a major activity center intended for high density, multi-family residential development. The site supports multi-modal transportation systems within the center. An internal boulevard provides access to the apartments and includes a landscaped median, tree-lined-sidewalks, and parallel parking – all intended to promote pede
