Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Expansion

Huitt-Zollars served as A/E of record on the VA Cemetery Gravesite Expansion design-build team. The project called for survey, construction testing, geotechnical, irrigation design, and fire protection sprinkler design services. Huitt-Zollars provided design and construction documents to convert 70 acres of undeveloped land adjacent to the existing cemetery into more than 11,000 new burial sites, additional columbaria, and a new cemetery maintenance facility.

Houston National Cemetery

As a member of a design-build team, Huitt-Zollars prepared the architectural and engineering design, construction documents, plus topographic surveying services for the Houston National Cemetery expansion. The design scope of work included streets, drainage system, detention facilities, sanitary sewer, grading, storm water pollution prevention plan, landscaping and irrigation, auxiliary maintenance and storage facility, lighting, signage, demolition plans, sidewalks and accessible ramps, and new committal shelters. During construction, Huitt-Zollars installed construction staking, reviewed

Citizens Business Bank Arena

Huitt-Zollars provided preliminary site development studies, water quality management plan, grading plans, drainage studies, sewer and water plans along with underground fire service plans. The project called for on-site and off-site improvement plans in the construction of an 11,000-seat entertainment complex. The facility can be reconfigured for a variety of events via flexible seating capacity, providing a unique and powerful venue for regional events. The project was successfully executed on a tight schedule.

Winrock Center Redevelopment

Huitt-Zollars continues to provide civil engineering services for the renovation and redevelopment of Winrock Center. A comprehensive design solution, transportation/traffic analysis and design; utility upgrades including water mains and service, wastewater collection mains and stormwater; drainage studies; environmental assessment; and architectural compatibility have been provided. Public and neighborhood meetings were conducted throughout the design process; public concerns were addressed and accepted by all stakeholders. The regional center reflects a “main street” concept.

The Collection Lifestyle Center

Huitt-Zollars assisted Shea Properties in preliminary and final construction documents for the 600,000-SF lifestyle center, located on 64-acres. The open air lifestyle center is anchored by major retailers, and features 17 buildings with seven out parcels. This project was a continuation of the Riverpark project. Huitt-Zollars prepared rough grading plans, precise grading plans, ALTA surveys, address maps, wet utility plans, and lot line adjustments for the project.

Plaza San Clemente

Huitt-Zollars prepared on-site civil construction plans and horizontal control plans for this 50-acre retail commercial outlet center. Plans were prepared for precise grading, storm drainage, signage and striping, retaining walls, guard rail barriers, erosion and sediment control. Additional plans were prepared for domestic water and sanitary sewer systems. Project design included 21,000 LF of storm drains; 8,800 LF of domestic water pipes; and 6,700 LF of sewer pipes. Project challenges included (and were not limited to) designing an off-site sewer main down a 70-foot-high 2:1 slope.

Luton Ranch HEB Granbury

Huitt-Zollars provided due diligence, engineering, and surveying services for the annexation, preliminary plat, and zoning for the entitlement of 133 acres of mixed-use commercial property within the City of Granbury. Entitlement exhibits, preliminary engineering, and final engineering were prepared for the development of 21 acres. Design included grading, paving site plans, drainage, sewer, and water to serve the site, as well as three Texas Department of Transportation driveways and associated deceleration lanes along Highway 377.

Chino Hills Gateway Village

Huitt-Zollars provided preliminary and final engineering services, preparation of conceptual grading, drainage and utility plan, preliminary water quality management plan, preliminary drainage study, and construction administration for the 57,000 square-foot commercial/retail development and parking lot. Final construction drawings included precise grading, storm drain, sewer, water, firewater, and associated support calculations. Site design included a 10,000 cubic-foot underground infiltration chamber system that reduces stormwater outflow and removes potential pollutants from stormwater

Kemah Boardwalk

This project scope included completion of the master plan for an exciting family-oriented waterfront boardwalk in Kemah, Texas. This dynamic multi-venue project creates a one-third-mile pedestrian entertainment district complete with five existing restaurants, three new restaurants (including an aquarium restaurant), as well as an amusement area with a 60-foot ferris wheel, carousel, and tower slide.

Disneyland Hotel

This project consisted of rehabilitating the existing over 3,000-SF Presidential Suite, re-theming the lobbies of the three towers that make up the hotel, and re-theming three existing buildings within the central courtyard. All of the existing finishes, furnishings, and fixtures within the Presidential Suite were removed and replaced with new.
