IH-10 Interchange Redd Road

Huitt-Zollars provided PS&E preparation of the Redd Road Diamond Interchange at IH-10. This urban highway design included a new overpass, four ramps, mainlanes, improvements to existing frontage roads, and a three-span superstructure bridge utilizing TxDOT's new U beams. Special architectural treatments were utilized on the traffic rail, substructure elements, and retaining wall approaches. Plans included horizontal and vertical geometry, extensive retaining wall bridge design, surveying, signing, pavement marking, traffic signals, illumination, and traffic control planning.

University Boulevard South Bridge

Huitt-Zollars provided surveying, traffic engineering, roadway, utility, and bridge design, bidding and construction phase services for 1.75 miles of the new University Boulevard South from Commonwealth Boulevard through Brazos Landing to the City of Sugar Land’s city limits. Huitt-Zollars prepared the preliminary and design documents (plans, specifications and estimate) for the construction of the new four-lane arterial with raised medians, curb and gutter with sidewalks on both sides. Scope of work included three significant bridges.

Miller Street Bridge Rehabilitation

Huitt-Zollars developed construction contract documents for rehabilitating an existing two-span box culvert bridge over Ralston Creek. The project included preparation of construction contract documents including structure plans, demolition plans, aesthetic bridge rail design, pavement replacement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, retaining walls, utility coordination, traffic control plan, erosion control plan, and obtaining a Nationwide 404 permit.

Harlem Road Overpass on Grand Parkway

Huitt-Zollars prepared final plans, specifications, and estimates for a new 0.8-mile four-lane divided roadway and tolled overpass above Harlem Road on Grand Parkway. This segment is part of the SH 99 outer loop of Houston. Huitt-Zollars performed utility investigations, roadway design, drainage/detention analysis and design, traffic control, and SWPPP. Included in the design is a significant elevated section on a two degree curve with a bridge skew of approximately 45 degrees.

Barker Cypress Bridge

Huitt-Zollars prepared a preliminary engineering report and final design construction documents and provided construction phase services for the construction of Barker Cypress Road and a five-span, pre-stressed concrete beam bridge across Cypress Creek. The roadway is an asphalt boulevard with a raised median and storm sewer drainage.

Oxnard Village

Oxnard Village contains an approximately 62-acre privately funded redevelopment project located at the westerly gateway to the City of Oxnard, along the 101 Freeway. The original site was under-utilized and outdated, with a 1950's era motel, mobile home park, and retail/commercial businesses. The new development will include 1,500 residential units, including wrap-style apartments, garden-style apartments, courtyard townhomes, podium stacked flats, commercial retail space, and row house townhomes. The project also features a “main street” retail district, local transit center, regional mult

West 7th Redevelopment

West 7th is a 1.1-million square foot mixed-use project in downtown Fort Worth’s Cultural District. Situated on 15.5 acres, the “urban village” consists of 345 residential units; 345,000 square feet of retail; and 200,000 square feet of spec office. Huitt-Zollars was integrally involved in design and provided all survey and civil services for the project along with construction. Huitt-Zollars has a major stake in the area as a whole and our presence has played a vital role in the area’s development.

Harbor Lofts

Harbor Lofts is the first mixed-use building in downtown Anaheim, offering two-story live/work residences. The property features 58 residential units and 14,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Huitt-Zollars provided civil engineering; subterranean parking garage excavation plans; site grading and wet utility plans; along with improvements to the surrounding public streets.

Doria Lofts

The mixed use design provides ground floor retail, restaurants, and 60 residential loft apartments within four stories. The Doria Lofts were inspired to reflect a “true New York City” atmosphere; the project is located near the landmark Art Walk where residents can conveniently live, work, and play. Huitt-Zollars provided civil engineering services that included excavation plans for the subterranean parking garage. Site civil engineering included precise grading, wet utility plans, and improvements to the surrounding public streets.
