East Biggs Pump Station

Huitt-Zollars provided design services for a booster pump station, two 1.5 MG ground storage tanks, a 1.5 MG elevated storage tank, and a master meter/rate of flow controller connection to the El Paso Water Utilities system to serve the Fort Bliss area formerly called East Biggs. The East Biggs Development Area is a 2,500-acre master planned military facility.

Cabezon Wastewater Treatment Plant Reservoir and Booster Station

Huitt-Zollars is providing construction design and management services for a new 3 MG concrete reservoir and new 6 MGD water reuse system booster station located at the Cabezon Wastewater Treatment Plant #6. The construction of the 3 MG reuse storage tank includes a concrete foundation, inlet piping, outlet piping, overflow and drain lines, and special coatings for protection.

9 MGD Surface Water Treatment Plant

Huitt-Zollars, as a consultant, provided civil engineering, architectural design, interior design, and landscape architecture for the $69 million plant, one of the City of Sugar Land’s largest Capital Improvement Projects ever. Huitt-Zollars provided design services for the entire 40-plus-acre site, pump station buildings, maintenance building, sludge dewatering building, chemical building, main electrical distribution building, and membrane/administration building.

72-Inch Water Transmission Main

Huitt-Zollars designed 4,500 linear feet of 72-inch waterline, along 12th Street, as part of the Accelerated Surface Water Transmission Program. The project limits extended west of IH 610 East to Seamist Drive. Scope of the work included survey, geotechnical and environmental investigations, preliminary and final design, the preparation of storm water pollution prevention plan, traffic control plans and construction phase engineering services. Huitt-Zollars designed three separate tunnels for the project: beneath Highway 610, the Union Pacific Railroad and a private railroad spur.

La Barranca Sanitary Sewer Main

Huitt-Zollars provided design engineering for a sanitary sewer main running from Wastewater Treatment #3, up the La Barranca Arroyo, to Paseo Gateway master plan area with a future connection to the City Center. The effort included coordination with the Army Corp of Engineers, New Mexico Department of Transportation, and SSCAFCA.

Grouse Street Force Main Rehabilitation

As the Design Engineer and Construction Manager, Huitt-Zollars prepared a Preliminary Study Report to assess the condition of approximately 16,000 linear feet of the Grouse Street Force Main. The study includes population projections, hydraulic analysis and evaluation of route alternatives, and cost-effective methods to rehabilitate/replace the main. The new force main line is a 30-inch PVC sewer pipe (165, DR 25).

Division 13 Maintenance and Operations Facility

Huitt-Zollars, as Engineer of Record, was responsible for the civil design and MEP design support of the new bus maintenance and operations facility. The team was also involved in programming and preliminary engineering of the new facility. It was the first to be built by Metro in over 20 years and is located in downtown Los Angeles on an 8.25-acre site. It was Metro's intent to, at a minimum, attain a "Silver" project status as defined in the LEED Rating System by the U.S. Green Building Council. The design utilized state of the art, creative, and sustainable solutions.

Bus Maintenance Facility

In an effort to update the City’s bus maintenance and service facilities built in the 1920's, the FWTA retained Huitt-Zollars to provide complete architectural and engineering services. The renovated 15-acre complex encompasses an administrative center, vehicle maintenance structure, body shop, and service, wash, and yard maintenance buildings. Huitt-Zollars’ contract included schematic drawings, detailed A/E designs, contract plans and specifications, and equipment layouts, while supervising all construction activities to ensure a quality finished product.

Transit Centers and Downtown Trolley Bus Circulator

Huitt-Zollars provided design services for the expanded bus stop facilities located at the new baseball park, Convention Center, Myriad Gardens parks, and Federal Building Bombing Memorial. In addition, Huitt-Zollars provided architectural and engineering services for the design and construction of new monuments and kiosks at 26 stops along the route. The new monuments reflect the design elements of the downtown area and easily identify the trolley system. Several new information kiosks were designed with automated systems and touch screen and real time schedule display capabilities.
