The Judy & Bernard Briskin Hope Village Hotel located on the City of Hope Cancer Center campus in Duarte, CA, was designed to primarily serve City of Hope patients who have or are receiving treatment and their families. A portion of the village hotel will serve visiting doctors, professors, researchers, and other campus visitors.
Los Patrones Parkway is a rural secondary highway in Southern Orange County, California. The toll-free roadway is approximately 4.5 miles in length and has four lanes, two in each direction. Los Patrones Parkway provides increased mobility throughout the region as well as easier access to major freeways and toll roads. The first phase of the roadway connects Oso Parkway to Chiquita Canyon Drive, in the north and south directions.
Kaiser engaged Huitt-Zollars to design this adaptive re-use of an 18,000 SF existing single-story building that they leased from the City of Simi Valley into a Behavioral Health and Addiction Medicine clinic.
The project includes plans, specifications and estimates for the installation of two ABB power cabinets and four depot charge boxes at West Valleys and two ABB power cabinets and five depot charges boxes at East Valley. The Huitt-Zollars team provided survey, utility research, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering for the facilities. The project deliverable is complete plans, specifications and estimates for bidding purposes, along with construction support services.
Huitt-Zollars is developing a 2D hydraulic study of the Tapo Canyon Watershed in Ventura County California. Within the watershed, the Tapo Canyon Channel capacity can be overwhelmed and overtop floodwaters into adjacent streets of the City of Simi Valley. A rain-on-grid 2D hydraulic model that assesses influential parameters such as antecedent upper soil moisture, was used to assess the City’s storm drain system function.
Huitt-Zollars was the prime architecture consultant for the new student services building at Santa Monica College. The three-story building, with three subterranean levels of parking, consolidated the various Student Services departments into one building located on SMC’s main Pico campus. The goal was to provide centralized access and a one-stop service delivery location to more effectively serve the approximately 35,000 students per year in attendance.
Huitt-Zollars designed safety improvements around Westlake Elementary School as a part of the State-funded Safe Routes to School program for the City of Thousand Oaks. Improvements included a street widening, a pedestrian path, and a traffic signal modification. Huitt-Zollars satisfied the City's aggressive schedule and finished on-time and under-budget to meet the funding requirements. Topographic surveys, record and right-of-way research, property line and utility mapping, and complete construction documents (plans, specifications, and estimates) were provided.
Huitt-Zollars, as a subconsultant to MIG Inc, developed this 30-acre hillside site from open space into a regional park facility with 19 acres of developed park and 11 acres of hillside open space.

Cortesa at Esencia features 72 high-density detached single family homes within the master planned community of Rancho Mission Viejo. The homes are clustered in a four-plex arrangement around a common motor court. The development is adjacent to a number of neighborhood amenities including clubhouses, parks, trails, and miles of scenic corridors for hiking, biking, and leisurely walks. Homes are all single-level and designed exclusively for those 55 years old and above.
